Our CEO Nassib Chamoun recently chatted with podcast host Harry Glorikian about how HDAI came about and how the company has built AI models to address today’s most pressing healthcare issues.
Here is a snapshot of what they discussed during the podcast:
One of Glorikian’s first questions was whether AI tools will change the way that clinicians take care of patients. Chamoun explained that at HDAI, the company is focused on not making drastic changes to existing healthcare processes but is instead using AI technology to support clinical decision making, leading to higher likelihood of improved patient outcomes, increased doctor/patient interactions, and reduced hospital costs.
Chamoun went on to describe how Medicare currently spends over a trillion dollars a year and that number will continue to grow, and even double by 2031. The US healthcare system will not survive financially if hospitals do not address the increasing financial burden. HDAI’s goal is to help hospitals reduce two of the highest cost drivers: length of stay and hospital re-admission. HDAI’s HealthVision platform synthesizes massive amounts of healthcare data into actionable risk assessments for every patient to help clinicians efficiently target those patients who are at highest risk of in-hospital or post-discharge mortality, ultimately reducing length of stay and decreasing hospital readmission rates.
Chamoun’s mentor, Dr. Bernard Lown, often said, “history is the first and most important job you have as a clinician, before you even start doing anything for your patient.” HDAI’s risk assessment tools are inspired by this quote, focusing on the patient holistically and not only on a single hospital visit. HDAI uses AI to support improved patient outcomes and make clinicians’ lives easier. By identifying patients who are at highest risk, HDAI can help guide clinicians to focus on patients who may have otherwise slipped through the cracks.
